Hi Mike,

I think somethign has gone wrong with the Daily Comic module. It no longer displays any comics or even comic titles. I thought it might have been just on my site, but it looks like the demo here is suffering as well.

Has somethign change at teh comics.com site perhaps? I've just gone there now to have  a look and whilst I have no idea how the module gets it feed, I can see that the RSS feed requires one to be signed in. Is that maybe something new?

Thanks for any advice on this.
Rob

I'm going to have to look into it to see if there's anything that can be done. If they've got with a subscription/signin system it may be the death of the module. I won't be able to look at it today but should have a bit of time over the weekend.

I've tried creating an account on the site. Once you're signed in you can create a personal rss feed that looks like http://feeds.comics.com/comicsdaily/?UserID=xxxxxx

Perhaps the module might still be able to work but just require that one creates a personal feed?

The problem is comics.com has completely changed and they have eliminated the ability to grab news feeds of most of the comics that are either Political or most popular like Dilbert. Dilbert now has a seperate rss fee at dilbert.com but they have it locked down so the rss module within DNN does not work. You can publish it as an IFRAME module using the source code that you can get on the site but your site then has all of the advertising that comes with it. Even creating an account on comics.com doesn't work becuase they are only integrating with sites like google and yahoo.

Was a great module while it lasted. I am currrently looking for RSS feeds for comics to feed through the RSS module.

I might have a solution for you. I use the DNN News Feed 03.01.01 version and RSS subsciption Icant have that my members can chose their own comic but I have my comicpage allmost as usual. I use an xml style sheet like this:

xml version="1.0" ?>

[script removed]
  <xsl:output method="html" indent="yes" />
  <xsl:param name="TITLE" />
[script removed]
[script removed]
 Do not show channel image
  --> [script removed]
[script removed]
[script removed]
[script removed]
[script removed]
  <xsl:value-of select="title" />
  a>
  strong>
  <br />
[script removed]
 only display markup for description if it's present
  --> [script removed]
  <xsl:value-of disable-output-escaping="yes" select="description" />
  br>
  <br />
  xsl:for-each>
  xsl:template>
[script removed]
[script removed]
  <xsl:value-of select="." />
  br>
  xsl:template>
  xsl:stylesheet>

The problem is jou can´t have this Neews feed installed together with the new one  but maybe someone here can rename it so thats its possible. My knowledge of ASP.Net module is to much at beginnerlevel and i don´t even know if it is compiled code or not. I havn´t tried it in the Feed Explorer yet.
